Best Gaming Phone 2019
What to play on the road? Made a selection of gaming smartphones for every taste and budget
In the last couple of years, fans of mobile gaming have been a real celebration: not only do modern chipsets start to catch up with consoles in terms of performance, but there are also a lot of devices designed specifically for mobile games. Of course, if you want, you can call a game any smartphone more expensive than 7-10 thousand rubles, but if you look at the situation objectively, then 2 types of devices fall into this category – either gaming devices or those that compare favorably in cost and optimization. Today we will consider the most interesting gaming devices from various price categories, each of which has its own unique distinguishing features.
Let’s start with (semi) professional gaming smartphones, sharpened for games, rather than the usual everyday tasks like watching videos, social networks, and instant messengers.
ASUS ROG Phone
ASUS was not among the first manufacturers of gaming mobile devices, but thanks to the vast experience in the computer market, the first ASUS gaming smartphone turned out exactly the way the fans of the Taiwanese brand wanted to see it. The first thing that catches your eye when you get acquainted with this device is its aggressive design and a six-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of FullHD +, an aspect ratio of 18: 9 and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. In addition, the smartphone display has a response speed of 1 ms and supports the display of HDR content.
The processor here is no longer the top-end, but still very productive Snapdragon 845, overclocked to 2.96 GHz. Of course, such a device can not do without the advanced cooling necessary so that the user does not burn his hands after half an hour of play, so ROG Phone has a sophisticated system with an evaporation chamber, heat pipes and graphite plates.
Other features include 8 GB of RAM, 128/256 GB of internal memory, a dual 12 + 8 MP main camera, a 9-megapixel front camera, NFC modules, Wi-Fi ad, Bluetooth 5.0 and a 4000 mAh battery. Among the external elements, the fingerprint scanner on the rear panel and the ROG logo with RGB backlight deserve special mention.
ZTE Nubia Red Magic 3
This unit is one of the freshest in its class, it was introduced in May 2019, and it went on sale in mid-summer. The key advantage of Red Magic 3 over competitors is its active cooling system – that is, a tiny silent fan is installed inside the smartphone, rotating at a speed of up to 14,000 rpm. Thanks to him, the Chinese managed to achieve a lack of throttling even after several hours of active play.
And there’s something to bask in: the smartphone is built on the basis of a powerful eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with an Adreno 640 video core, the amount of RAM and internal memory is 8 GB and 128 GB or 12 GB and 256 GB, respectively.
Xiaomi Black Shark 2
Xiaomi Black Shark 2 is the second generation of gaming smartphones from the adored Chinese manufacturer in Russia. Without exaggeration, this device can be called one of the most productive devices on the mobile market. Despite the rather affordable price tag, the smartphone’s equipment includes a multi-layer liquid cooling system, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, 8 or 12 GB of LPDDRX4 RAM and an internal 128 or 256 GB drive.
The battery capacity is 4000 mAh with the ability to quickly charge standard QuickCharge 4.0. Xiaomi took care of its customers and especially for the Black Shark line released a collection of covers, gamepads and other exclusive accessories.
In addition to such true gaming devices, many ordinary devices that do not have impressive performance are ready to compete for the title of a gaming smartphone.
In the appearance of this smartphone, nothing speaks of its involvement in the gaming segment, but thanks to the first-class equipment, its performance in resource-intensive games are impressive. At the same time, the cost of the Pocophone F1 starts at 24 thousand rubles, which is at least two times lower than that of competitors with similar characteristics. More specifically, this model is based on the Snapdragon 845 processor, has 6 or 8 GB of RAM, a 64-gigabyte drive, a dual main camera with the ability to shoot 4K video at 60 fps and can reveal the full potential of its hardware along with OS updates.
Among gaming mobile smartphones there are also budget devices, which are often just positioned as gaming due to some software chips and bright design, but in most cases, such models practically do not stand out in terms of performance and are aimed primarily at casual audiences playing conditional “ balls ”and“ farms ”. One of these devices is Honor Play with an attractive appearance and a large 6.3-inch screen, as well as an energy-efficient HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor and a loudspeaker – taking into account the price of around $ 300, Honor Play is perfect for young people playing arcade games on the way to school.
